my poor wallet
I love the hemp wallet I get from Down to Earth. But every now and then I have to let the wallet sit in the sun because it is so saturated with toxic fragrances from the bills and the receipts in it.
While this is not a health risk to me, it just reminds me how ubiquitous the use of toxic and powerfully scented fragrances in our society.
Why does sunlight detox my wallet? Phthalates are released in sunlight or when heated up. Phthalates are the new car smell and when a car heats up the phthalates are released in the air. With windows closed the phthalates can leave an oily film on the inside surfaces. Similarly, when your friend heats up, you smell the phthalates in their cologne or perfume or underarm deodorant much more.
