Friday, Nov. 9 Screening to Benefit Community Options and Uncompahgre Valley Association
MONTROSE – Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour comes to the Montrose Pavilion on on Friday, November 9. This seventh annual benefit for Community Options and Uncompahgre Valley Association offers the traditional Mountainfilm selection of eclectic mix of shorts focusing on extreme sports, adventure, world cultures, and human interest. In Into Thick Air, a group of unfit Midwesterners conquer the Seven Summits – something to dream about for elite alpinists. Smoke Songs introduces viewers to the far-reaching possibilities when punk rock and human rights join forces in a Native American band. Other films highlight climbing, bike racing in Los Angeles, and a young man who highlines, slacklines, and base jumps to push the envelope to define what is pioneering sport and what may more directly be referred to as insanity.
Community Options and Uncompahgre Valley Association offer this event free to the public, thanks to the underwriting support of Four Seasons Investment Advisors, Alpine Bank, Masters Law Firm and Southwest Hearing Services. These two local nonprofits, whose missions of supporting people with disabilities in our communities (CO) and advocating for the protection of our natural resources (UVA) want Mountainfilm on Tour to be an event that celebrates our beautiful area of Western Colorado and its people. Please come and celebrate together! Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.; showtime, 6:30 p.m. Donations accepted the night of the show.
