TELLURIDE –Telluride will host next year’s Governor's 2013 Colorado Tourism Conference, Oct. 2-4, 2013.
"We are thrilled to host the Governor's Conference in 2013,” said Michael Martelon, president and CEO of the Telluride Tourism Board, “and to showcase Telluride's authentic spirit and inspiring atmosphere to industry partners from around Colorado."
The selection of Telluride was announced on Oct. 12, at the annual Governor's 2012 Colorado Tourism Conference, hosted by the Colorado Tourism Office in Steamboat Springs. The annual conference focuses on current and future travel and tourism trends, with educational sessions focusing on strategies to further the success of tourism-related businesses and destinations statewide.
At this year’s Annual Awards Luncheon on Oct. 12, The Governor’s Award for Outstanding Marketing Program, recognizing an event or project undertaken by a community or region to promote tourism in Colorado, went to the Telluride Tourism Board’s “Summer of Love” marketing campaign.
The TTB campaign aimed to increase summer occupancy for the months of June, July and August, generated more than 36 million impressions. Summer occupancy rates and revenues in 2012 rivaled those for core winter months, setting records for Telluride.
"We are honored to be recognized by the CTO for our "Summer of Love" marketing program, said Martelon. “We worked hard to target and make the most of every marketing dollar spent, and are thrilled to have been able to deliver for the Telluride community and destination.”
"As a destination reliant on tourism, we understand the industry's importance to our state,” he added, “and appreciate the support provided by the Colorado Tourism Office and our state government, in the form of activities such as the Governor's Conference."
The schedule of events for the 2013 conference will include workshops, breakout group discussions, and the Governor’s Tourism Awards, which honors non-profit organizations that offer products or services that promote tourism to or within Colorado. A complete schedule will be issued at a later date. For more information on Telluride, visit www.visittelluride.com.
