Elks - Cult or Club
I had never thought of the Elks as being a cult until I got an email of support from a past member from the Grand Junction Elks Lodge who quit over disillusionment and despair on the falsehoods the BPOE presents to new members and the failure of those in positions of power to live up to the standards the Elks state they stand for - Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity. After giving it some thought, I cannot say that I totally disagree with his assessment.
Before going into the similarities between the kook cults and the Elks, I would like to answer some of the questions I have received via email.
