Market Manager Marietta Johnson is excited for the new year, which will provide fresh, local, naturally grown produce, herbs, flowers, meat and eggs from some 27 vendors – along with various arts and crafts, pastries and community information booths.
“We’re in our 13th year now,” Johnson said. “And we’re thrilled that the Ridgway-Ouray community continues to embrace our market.”
Market days will be Fridays, all summer through Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Most vendors are from the Uncompahgre Valley and include The Gardens of Eatin’ (Johnson’s own family farm in Montrose), Laid Back Ranch grass-finished beef from Norwood, Kinikin Happy Hog Farm and Kinikin Egg Farm, Dayspring Farms in Olathe, and Buckhorn Gardens, home of the dome in the Beaton Creek Valley east of Colona.
Also on sale this year will be wines from Mountain View Winery in Olathe, including their 2011 Gewürztraminer and a Chipeta White, with Cabernets, Pinot Noirs, and an intriguing Uncompahgre Merlot from 2007.
Johnson promises there will be live music every week and “free samples and a fun atmosphere from the vendors.”
Meanwhile, the kids can play on the structures at the Town Park playground.
