*1) Three Girls & Their Buddy - a songwriter in-the-round set with Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Buddy Miller. All 4 of these artists are long-time friends of the festival. Shawn first wowed the Telluride audience in 1990, Patty last played in 1997.
2) Works Progress Administration - a new LA supergroup made up of Glenn Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket), Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek), Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Luke Bulla (Jerry Douglas Band), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers), Greg Leisz (Lucinda Williams, Bill Frisell), Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello & The Imposters), and Davey Faragher (Cracker, The Imposters). 3) Greensky Bluegrass - One of the fastest rising starts in the newgrass/jamgrass scene. Since winning the Telluride band contest in 2006, the Michigan quartet has added a fifth member - longtime Durango-based dobro player Anders Beck.
4) Lovell Sisters - 3 sisters from Georgia (ages 17 to 22) who are great pickers, great singers, and full of youthful sass. Rebecca Lovell (mandolin) was the first woman to win any of the Merlefest instrument contests. *
