MONTROSE – The Colorado Flights Alliance, Allegiant Air and the Telluride Tourism Board have announced the addition of nonstop service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) this winter. The seasonal flights, which will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting Dec. 21, will provide travelers with a convenient and low cost means of reaching Telluride with one-way introductory fares starting as low as $79.99.
Non-stop service on Allegiant from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA) will also remain in place this winter, with prices starting at $73.99 for one-way tickets.
“The introduction of Allegiant’s low cost flights from San Francisco Bay area and Phoenix last winter were successful and very popular with guest and locals alike,” said TTB President and Chief Executive Officer, Michael Martelon. “We had an opportunity this year with the L.A. market and decided to shift our focus from the Bay area to southern California. We’re really looking forward to introducing even more visitors from L.A. to the complete Telluride experience this winter thanks to the new Allegiant flights. We hope to get back to the bay area because we see great promise there; but this year our budgets didn’t provide us that luxury.”
In addition to the new Allegiant Air flight from LAX, nonstop service is available year-round from Denver on United Express, from Houston on United Airlines and from Dallas on American Airlines. During the winter months, nonstop service expands to include flights from Los Angeles, Newark and Chicago on United Airlines, Atlanta on Delta Airlines and Phoenix-Mesa on Allegiant.

• About the Colorado Flights Alliance:
The Colorado Flights Alliance exists to stimulate local economic development by attracting and retaining air service to the Montrose and Telluride region. This is done mainly through revenue guarantees or other risk mitigation partnerships. Without a risk mitigation partnership, most commercial airlines would not fly into the region at the level necessary to sustain the region’s tourism-driven economy. The Colorado Department of Transportation estimates the total economic activity impact to the region from air service to the Montrose and Telluride airports is more than $470 million annually.
