MONTROSE – Businessman Ronald McGuffee was recently charged in the July shooting that took place in front of Ron's Repair Center in Naturita.
The 47-year-old McGuffee, who owns the repair center, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and four counts of habitual criminal behavior, according to the courts. The charges were filed on Sept. 4.
The case will be heard in the Nucla Montrose Associate Court in Nucla on Oct. 7.
McGuffee was arguing with Brandon Pacheco, 35, outside the repair center on July 23, at approximately 11 p.m., according to a report from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and allegedly flashed a handgun during the argument. When Pacheco fled the scene in a vehicle with another individual, McGuffee allegedly fired a shot at the vehicle; the bullet struck Pacheco inside the car.
Pacheco was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, and later released.
Police put an alert out for McGuffee on the morning of July 24, and McGuffee turned himself into CBI agents in Montrose that afternoon. He was held on first-degree assault charges at Montrose County Jail, and posted the $60,000 cash surety bond on July 25.
