The Indians hosted its Lloyd McMillan Baseball Tournament on March 16-17 in Montrose, which saw play from several 4A teams from the Western Slope and Southwestern leagues, MHS coach Landon Wareham said.
The MHS team, which is in the Southwestern League, started the tournament with a 9-3 win against Palisade. On Saturday, the team crushed Moffat County, 25-2, and then claimed the title with a 10-1 win against Eagle Valley.
“It went well,” Wareham said. “The guys played good and it was a good tournament.”
It's the team's fourth consecutive Montrose tournament win under Wareham's management.
On Thursday, the team will visit Delta, staring at 4 p.m., followed by two of its tougher competitors, Grand Junction and Durango, the following weekends.
Montrose plays Grand Junction in Montrose at 11 a.m. March 24, and then plays at Durango on March 31 at 11 a.m.
