Downtown voters recently approved the creation of the authority, a legal entity “which may purchase and redevelop property, enact capital improvements, and administrate other programs for economic development.”
The board will be comprised of a majority of downtown property owners, business owners and residents, and a Montrose City Council Member, who will also be appointed to serve as a liaison between the two bodies.
The DDA board will adopt and create rules governing its procedure, including the election of officers. Boardmembers will also oversee the business operations of the DDA, participate in creating and implementing long-range plans designed to carry out the purposes of the authority, and promote the economic growth of the district.
Eligible applicants include individuals who reside, own a business, or own property within the boundaries of the DDA District. A map of the district displays the boundaries of the DDA. and job description is now available at City Hall for interested applicants to review.
Interested persons should submit a résumé, letter of interest and a completed application to the Montrose City Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 790, Montrose, CO 81402, or hand deliver to 433 South First Street, by Friday, May 21.
Final board appointees will be decided during the city council's regular meeting on Thursday, June 3.
