MONTROSE — Despite a protest rally and fervent opposition by farmers and ranchers, the Montrose County Board of County Commissioners approved a special use permit for a uranium mill in Paradox Valley Monday morning. The vote was unanimous.
The proposed mill has been a subject of controversy for months, with hundreds of people, both pro and con, showing up at both planning commission and board of commissioners public meetings to discuss the proposal. The planning commission recommended approval in July.
Organic farmers in the valley have said the mill would put them out of business while others say the mill is needed because the county’s West End needs jobs.
Nuclear power is one of the cleanest energy technologies we have. Is it perfect? No. But, neither is coal or natural gas. And, it's certainly better than solar, wind, etc. which are expensive, intermittent, require dangerous minerals and chemicals, and require vast swaths of land (like hundreds of sq. miles) to produce power on mass scale.
I believe that inexpensive and plentiful energy of one of the best ways to improve people's quality of life, especially those on the lower end of the economic spectrum.
Impressive.
I base a first impression off of meeting a person face to face and not off of commentary.
I am sure you have never "fat fingered" a word and you always utilize "spellcheck" because you are afraid to mispell a word. You are wasting my time so I will leave it as you being the douche bag and me stupid...I am good with that.
First impressions are everything. And my first impression of you is that you can't spell, so why would you be able to put forth any sort of reliable or helpful commentary? So I kept it at your level so you could understand. I am sorry for calling you a douche bag. I should have kept it at stupid.
You are right. There is nothing like uranium dust on your "tomatoe"plants. Nice spelling douche bag. Perhaps you should lay off the radiation.
