MONTROSE – Big city comedy rolls on this month when comedians Mike Jones and Spencer James take the mic Saturday, March 8, beginning at 7 p.m. at Two Rascals Brewing Co.
Mike Jones, from Huntington, W. Va, keeps audiences on the edges of their seats, with witty observations and an off-the-wall take on everyday life. “You have no idea what you are going to get,” says Kendra Morrow, who works with entertainment company based in Los Angeles to book a steady stream of up-and-coming comedians into shows at Canyon Creek Bed and Breakfast and Two Rascals. “It’s always a 21-and-over show,” she warns. “It’s been so much fun to experience something you would normally get in the big city.”
Spencer James has been blending fresh stand-up with sometimes excruciating details from his day-to-day family life and everyday observations since he was 17. His film and acting credits stretch all the way from NBC’s North Shore to Lost to performing for the fishermen of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, made famous by the hit TV show Deadliest Catch.
His home club “Comedy Works” is based out of Denver but most of his time has been spent performing at comedy clubs, military bases, and colleges around the nation.
James has opened for Last Comic Standing’s Tye Barnett, Comedy Central’s Jimmy Dore, and Rocky Laporte; he was a participant at the World Talent Convention in 2002, the MVP of Comedy Works Funny Final Four Contest, 2005, and a featured performer at the Boulder Comedy Contest in 2009.
Tickets to the March 8 show can be bought at the door for $15, or at canyoncreekbedandbreakfast.com. Two Rascals Brewing Co. is located at 147 N. First Street in Montrose.
