MONTROSE – This holiday season the community is invited to take part in a North Pole Fantasy in downtown Montrose. The 2010 Holiday Parade of Lights takes place Saturday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. The event follows Merriment on Main Street, featuring carolers, Santa Claus, vintage cars, merchant discounts, and more from 3-5 p.m.
The Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism Holiday Planning Committee has announced that Kathy Kinterknecht of Montrose and her mother- in-law, Joann Topliss of Grand Junction, will be the Grand Marshals of the this year’s Parade of Lights, which is co-sponsored by the Delta-Montrose Electric Association.
As Grand Marshals, Kinterknecht and Topliss will ride among the floats to help the communities of Montrose and Olathe usher in the holiday season.
“We are so thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to be part of such a special tradition that brings joy to so many every year,” said Kinterknecht.
Those wishing to enter a float in the parade have until Wednesday, Dec. 1 to do so.
Montrose Bucks will be awarded to winners in the following categories: Best Theme Presentation; Best Musical Entry; Best Use of Lights; Best Group/Organization Entry; Best Commercial/Business Entry; Best Youth Entry; Best Christmas Spirit; Best Use of LED Lights (sponsored by DMEA); Best Non-Profit Entry (sponsored by the Montrose Community Foundation); and Best Overall Entry.
