This position became vacant last month, upon the departure of Greg Sparks, who had filled the role for four years. The town launched a search for candidates at that time that has now, with Montgomery’s promotion, been discontinued.
“The truth is that Town Council always felt that Kim could fill the role of town manager quite well, but she was initially reluctant,” said Mayor Bob Delves. “I think she became more comfortable with the idea after stepping in as interim town manager and realizing that she has strong leadership skills and the full respect of staff and Town Council. When I asked her again, she reflected on the matter carefully, and ultimately agreed. I am absolutely delighted with her decision. Kim knows the inner workings of the town better than anyone, and is known to all as a tireless, efficient and effective leader. We are truly fortunate to have her take the helm, especially as we head into what looks to be an extremely challenging budget year in 2012.“
Montgomery has worked for the Town of Mountain Village in various capacities over the past seven years.
“We are facing some significant challenges in the upcoming years,” Montgomery said. “After a three-year process, I am excited to have successfully adopted the Comprehensive Plan so we have a clearer road map into our future. We will now move on to the implementation of the plan. We are addressing our ongoing economic challenges and will have a significant transition within the Town Council but I am confident that we will continue on a path toward becoming a more vibrant and successful community. I am humbled and gratified by the support and endorsement of our staff, Council, community members and partners.”
Montgomery remains in her current Town Hall offices at 455 Mountain Village Boulevard.
