County Clerk Michelle Nauer assembled election judges on Friday to count provisional ballots. Those 41 votes swung 27 to 14 for Fedel, giving the Republican a 34-vote advantage over one-term Democrat Meinert, 1307 to 1273.
The 34-vote difference was too large to trigger an automatic recount, and Meinert told The Watch: “After considering the provisional vote count and the low probability of votes changing, I’ve decided not to pursue a recount. I’ve just called Mike Fedel to congratulate him on his victory.”
