Cornerstone, the 6,000-acre residential community and private golf club located on Horsefly Mesa, has announced that prominent teaching professional Mark Wood has been named Director of Golf for the Greg Norman-designed golf course. Mirroring Greg Norman's pursuit of excellence, Cornerstone has assembled its own dream team with the hiring of Wood to join Tom Huesgen, golf course superintendent, who came to Cornerstone in 2005 from Pebble Beach. Wood will be responsible for overseeing all operations of Cornerstone's championship course, at least nine-holes of which are slated to open in 2007.

Over the past two decades, Wood has been nationally recognized for his teaching acumen; his reputation as one of the most innovative golf pros has been noted by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest who continually place him on their Top Teachers lists. He is regularly featured in Sports Illustrated and hosts a national radio show on The Sporting News Network. Prior to joining the Cornerstone team, Wood headed up golf operations at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, NJ and was recognized as Teacher of the Year for 2006 by the New Jersey section of the PGA of America.

"We are extremely proud to welcome a premier golf teacher and professional to what will undoubtedly be recognized as one of the finest courses in the nation," said Jim Mikula, general manager of Cornerstone Colorado. "I am especially excited about Mark's enthusiasm for helping anyone improve their golf game – he is truly a great ambassador for golf."

Wood's responsibility is to create a world-class golf experience at Cornerstone. In addition to every-day operational and teaching duties, he will collaborate with Greg Norman's team to design an exceptional practice facility. His innovative teaching techniques and excellent communication skills have enabled him to coach touring pros such as Bo Van Pelt and Dudley Hart.

"Anticipating member needs and helping all golfers to improve their game are all part of Cornerstone's Pioneer Hospitality," said Wood. "I look forward to working with Greg Norman, his design team and Tom Huesgen to make Cornerstone the absolute best golf club in the West.
