“We felt the additional burden that this district imposed on businesses and commercial property owners was unnecessary,” said Montrose County Planning Services Manager Jon Waschbush of the board’s action, which was recommended by the County Planning Commission and staff.
“We’re glad the board and planning commission were supportive of removing these regulations from the zoning ordinance.
“We’ll continue to work together towards streamlining existing codes and reducing the regulatory burden to businesses in unincorporated Montrose County,” Waschbush added.
The intent of the District was to preserve the aesthetic appeal of the Highway 550 corridor through additional standards addressing items like landscaping, lighting and building facade.
