RIDGWAY – Her paintings are so alive one expects them to snort and snicker. Ridgway artist Alice Billings celebrates the horses who have brought color and companionship to her world with a mini art exhibition now on display at the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center.

Billing’s ability to capture the spirit of her subjects in confident line and vivid hue has won appreciation from visitors.

“Alice’s paintings are so reflective of Ridgway, and of the traditional Western lifestyle that this community has always been identified with,” said RACC Executive Director Caitlin Switzer. “It is exciting for us to be able to share her work with a new and very appreciative audience.”

A lifelong artist, Billings brings passion and humor to her paintings, which are done in acrylics and oils. She supports her love for horses by serving as the artist in residence at Thunder Heart Haven as well. Billings can be reached at 970/626-3861 or at 970/729-1848, or via email at horselady@ridgway.us.

Billings’ work is on display at the RACC Visitor Center (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), in the updated Ridgway Welcome Center and Railroad Museum, at 150 Racecourse Road. The phone number is 970/626-5181.
