After a week of uncertainty, the results of the recount of the May 22nd election are in and I am pleased to announce that the Mountain Village voters upheld the Town Council’s decision approving the PUD for Lot 161CR, including the Recreation Center.

This election boasted the highest voter turnout for any election ever held in the Mountain Village and I want to thank all of you for being so involved in this process. From the Issues Committees, the letter writers, and community members to those who made the effort to vote, I appreciate your passion and sincere desires to continue to improve the Mountain Village as a community, a place to call home and a place to visit. The Town took this process very seriously, and I want to thank the Town staff for their diligence and dedication to bringing this matter to a close.

Whatever your position has been on this issue, I ask you, for the enrichment of our community, to move forward. I urge you to continue to be involved in the decision making process in the Mountain Village and retain the passion that you showed for this election and apply it both today and in the future.

The Mountain Village has an exciting future ahead with the completion of the major projects within the Village Center in site, the addition of amenities and services which will come with the completion of the projects and the increased vibrancy and sustainability of our community. The democratic process worked, the people have spoken and it is now time to embrace the possibilities of the future.

As Mayor, and on behalf of Town Council, we humbly thank the community for their support.

 – Rube Felicelli
