TELLURIDE – A 7-year-old boy was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital last week after sustaining serious head injuries on Thursday, Feb. 7.
The boy, who was skiing down See Forever with his father, veered off onto Woozley’s Way, whereupon he lost control and hit a tree. He was wearing a helmet.
According to Telluride Ski and Golf Co. spokesman Tom Watkinson, the “impact” of the collision caused injuries that led to a Flight for Life to St. Mary’s Hospital, in Grand Junction.
Watkinson said he had received an update over the weekend that the boy’s condition had improved, but had no further details.
An 18-year-old Georgia woman, skiing for the first time, died from massive head, neck and internal injuries after hitting a tree on the same intermediate run in February 2002.
