Following his startling premiere of The Prophet, Jacques Audiard returns to Telluride with a film about a drifter forced to become a father. He meets a beautiful young woman who, after a terrible accident, needs his help. Rust and Bone, one of the sensations at the Cannes film festival, was described by the Guardian as “utterly absorbing … miraculous … an enthralling and moving romance.” Festival tributee Marion Cotillard plays Stephanie; rising star Matthias Schoenaerts, discovered in the 2011 Oscar nominee Bullhead, is Ali.
