Description:
UDR's Basic Mediation Training is approved by the Utah Court system and satisfies the training requirement for mediators wanting to be included as a basic level mediator on the Utah Court Roster of Mediators. The Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education has approved this workshop for 36 hours of CLE credits, which includes 2 hours of ethics and 1 hour of Professionalism and Civility. Our commitment is to teach not just a model for solving problems, but how to use this process to help people change how they handle conflict. This five-day workshop covers the following topics:
* Negotiation Styles and Strategies
* Sources of Conflict * Conflict Management Styles
* Stages and Phases of the Mediation Process
* Convening the Mediation
* Communication Skills: Listening and Use of Questions
* Writing Agreements * Managing Cultural Differences
* Ethical Dilemmas in Mediation
Prerequisites This workshop is open to participants from all occupations and backgrounds. There are no prerequisites for this workshop.
