Tenor Returns to Telluride
From the Supreme Court to St. Patrick's… A Presidential Serenade
On Monday, February 17th, Dennis McNeil returns to Telluride for his fifth annual St. Pat's Serenade. This time he comes almost directly from performing for members of the Supreme Court and special guests at a dinner hosted by retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. McNeil, who has sung for 5 US Presidents and other heads of state is an international recording artist and entertainer and has won multiple awards and accolades from groups as varied as the Metropolitan Opera to the Grateful Dead.
"I love Telluride, and I love these concerts we've been doing at St. Pat's." says McNeil. "I travel all around the world singing and I meet some pretty amazing people, but I just love my time each year in the Rockies more than anything. These concerts are laid back and informal; it's kind of like I am just hanging out and singing in your living room."
This year McNeil will be bringing his newest CD, "About Time," released just this past month. Some of the songs featured are "Moondance," "Smile," "Hallelujah," and "A House is Not a Home," to name just a few. Says McNeil, "One of my favorite tracks is a mash up of two songs, "Charade" by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini and Leon Russell's "Masquerade." These two songs were made to go together and they fit like a glove." Visit his website at www.dennismcneil.com for more information.
"This is a true community building event," says the church's pastor, Deacon Michael Doehrman. "Proceeds help us maintain and restore our historic local building, but more importantly, the concert brings members of the community and many winter visitors together to share in this wonderful musical event. It is simply not to be missed!"
Tickets for the 5th Annual Serenade at Saint Patrick's Church are $35 and can be purchased at the church, Ace Hardware, Timberline, and Alpine Shatz - or at the door. Hors d'oeurves and no-host bar begin at 6:00PM and the Concert begins at 7:00PM with a reception and CD signing to follow.
