Batik: The Basics with Kathy Green
Batik: The Basics
Discover the magical, colorful world of silk dyeing and batik. Spend four evenings (with optional open studio time on weekends) learning about color, surface design, silk painting, wax resist, shibori, and other silk dyeing techniques, culminating in a final prayer flags project. Dyes used during class work on silk, wool and fabric blends that contain silk and wool. A week or two after the class ends, a separate dye-setting session will take place. (Note: dry cleaning is required to remove the wax; plan on $8 per piece) The materials fee includes seven scarves/fabric pieces, with the option of purchasing more fabric from the instructor. This class is limited to six students.
* Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for two weeks, plus open studio on Saturdays & Sundays, Feb. 15-16 and 22-23. Dye set may be March 6 or 13.
Please note: This class takes place at the Stone Building at 117 North Willow Street, Telluride.
