Truth in Motion: The Art of Writing it Slant
Emily Dickinson tells us "Tell all the Truth but tell it Slant."
We want to write with energy, create raw work that is bold and meaningful, work that radiates truth and poetry, whether we are composing verse or prose.
We want to write our version of the truth, the way we see it. There is power in writing authentically, from our gut, from our dreams. Sometimes we're afraid though, sometimes we think we have to protect people from our truth.
In this workshop we'll see what contemporary writers have to say about this; we'll look at the ways poets and storytellers have set themselves free. We'll uncover techniques, forms and angles, which will also enhance the writing we do on our own. We will write and share, walk and talk, and write some more.
Bring a bagged lunch and a small journal (pocket size) as well as a larger notebook or laptop and a pen.
