Ouray Art Walk
Nestled in the breathtaking San Juan Mountains, the little town of Ouray is an art Mecca, filled with charming fine art galleries and bustling studios. It offers a wide variety of unique local and international arts and crafts. Out of the 700 local year round residents, Ouray artists include several renowned artists, producing a blend of art ranging from handmade jewelry, pastel and pencil drawings, watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, photography, pottery, custom metal work, textile work, stained glass, multimedia, wood and metal sculpture, and glassworks. The eclectic Ouray art scene include traditional, contemporary, abstract, surrealist, Naïve, African, South American, authentic Native American, Western, Cowboy and wildlife art. Besides fresh galleries, Ouray is also home to a wonderful new sculpture garden.
The Ouray Art Walk offers summer patrons great venues with art, music, poetry readings, special demonstrations and ample refreshments (wine & horse de avers) on Second Saturdays of every month, June through September: June 11th, July 9th, August 13th, September 10th. Ouray Art Walk makes a special attempt to provide a creative platform for young upcoming musicians and poets from the local community to perform in these venues. The Art Walk also allows for the opening of studios to the public, revealing the inner workings and spaces of where these artists create their works, the tools & equipment they use, offering fascinating demonstrations from the silversmith, sculptor, glass blower, mask maker to painter.
