BIG BAND – The Valley Symphony Orchestra, which just completed a successful Christmas concert series with the Valley Symphony Chorus, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The orchestra, under the long-time direction of Mike Kern, has evolved into full, seasoned orchestra since its humble beginnings in a Cedaredge home. In February, the orchestra will perform an all-Russian program featuring Russian pianist Kirill Gliadkovsky. The Spring Concert will focus on music from the Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller big band sounds, with some contemporary pieces. (Photo courtesy of the Valley Symphony Orchestra)
